how do you play this game on your computer
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
NIVA is a pacifistic exploration art game.
The player slips into the role of a mighty forest god to restore the harmony in a mesmerizing forest and relieve it of a mysterious infestation. This shuddersome, mothlike infestation is drawn to the conflicts of the forest's inhabitants. Through observation and by using the abilities of nurturing and withering fascinating plants the player can solve said conflicts. NIVA's scenic art style, relaxing music and simple but intriguing game mechanics invite to explore the forest and have a rest from the stressful everyday life.
A controller is strongly recommended to play.
Unzip the folder anywhere you like, start NIVA.exe (on Windows) or NIVA.app (on Mac).

Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required) or Mac OS X 10, 3 GB RAM, graphics card equivalent to ATI Radeon 5570 or NVIDIA GeForce 430 GT with 1 GB memory, approx. 1,5 GB HDD space

hey in trying to figure this out because I don't know if you can play this game on a phone
This game is very graphically gorgeous and defiantly would be great it had some kind of story added to it or don't because it feels like you can create your own story of why you are in the forest and why you were summoned? maybe I don't really know tho but amazing project/game.
Very beautiful graphic.
This game was incredible for the eyes. SO BEAUTIFUL.
game look really good (i love this graphic) but playing it for longer time is boring. nice to play less than 5 times for me, but still look amazing
my video with game (in video i talking in polish)
This was an enjoyable experience.
- The game is very pretty to look at. The art style is simple yet clean, and successfully adds depth to objects.
- The puzzles can give a player pause, yet not to the point of frustration.
- Nothing is trying to kill you, yet the feeling of unease is there.
- There are a number of bugs, and the controls can be a little stiff -- especially when jumping -- yet for the most part these do not distract from the experience.
About the problem with using K&M, I can think of two solutions:
- Adding a sensitivity slider.
- Allowing the player to switch between the two camera modes by pressing a button rather than holding it. "Reset camera" is this second mode I'm talking about. While its purpose is only to center the camera, it would work as a second camera mode, since it would allow the player to turn with the mouse rather than the WASD keys.
Decided to give this game a shot, and I loved it! :>
The artstyle and music in this game are gorgeous, it was a wonderful experience!
I even made a lil' video on it~
Hi... this is my attempt of this beauty useing a controller, which worked great!
Loved it, style and simplicity with puzzles that was quite refreshing ;)
This game is actually really pretty and relaxing.
But I slightly broke it (you can see this in my video)
really nice art style and visuals but the keyboard controls aren't that great
really pretty and nice but its really laggy and the controlls are not varry good
What a beautiful and wonderful game. It doesn't need anything added to it. I managed to get lost a lot but that's a cool thing about it. It makes me explore more. I loved it!

I actually managed to complete the game without having a clue what I was supposed to do. The narrative that I got from it was lovely as well.. Nice work.

GENERAL NUKER GAMING
Dear NIVA players, thank you very much for all your support and comments. We appreciate your feedback and really enjoy watching the let's plays posted here.
Also some people have been wondering about update plans for NIVA, but because it was our final student project a lot of the team members have already finished studying and left the university.
However, four members of our team are staying together and form a company by the end of this year to create experiences similar to NIVA. Therefore we would be happy if you follow us on these platforms:
So stay tuned and look forward to our next game project!
It really been a fantastic adventure playing this game. Very relaxing
I found some glitches while playing thought you might want to know.
This was a pretty fun game, to bad it was short though.
Here's a video I made on it.
I just recently downloaded this game and I really really want to play it, there's so many good reviews! However I can't seem to...play it.
It will only load when I have it at high settings, and if I press "new game" it pauses up and doesn't play. I've tried just about everything from moving the files from one disk to another, trying compatibility mode, running as admin, and even redownloading. Nothing appears to get this game to run.
Is there anything I can do to get it working?
EDIT: I've tried lowering the resolution (my screen is humongous) and while it helps with the frames on the menu screen, the game still does not run when I press "new game".
The game needs rather high specs to run and is sadly not optimized for weaker graphic cards. Please see recommended minimum system requirements for further information. We are very sorry if you are thus unable to play the game.
Thanks for the awesome game! Reminded me of Princess Mononoke and Okami a bit. Two things I love dearly.
Beautiful Game. Love the graphics. Did get lost a couple times, though.
Hi everyone! Here's my let's play of this stunning game, hope you like it!

For those of you using the x360ce program and the Mayflash GameCube controller adapter who are having trouble getting the game to pick up the controller:
1. Configure x360ce with the adapter in PC mode (the switch on the side of the adapter), then close the editor.
2. Start NIVA with the adapter still in PC mode.
3. While in the menu, switch the adapter to WiiU mode and wait until you hear Windows recognize the controller, then switch back to PC mode. You may need to reconfigure the "A" button in the editor and redo the process, however.
I also checked the boxes in the images in the third comment down here: https://github.com/x360ce/x360ce/issues/295 (the comment by tom2ross) . If the steps I outlined don't work, try checking the boxes shown in the photos, then hit "Apply/Synchronize Settings"; ignore any errors.
Also, if you're not using the Mayflash adapter, but your adapter has a way to switch between two modes, try that, too.
These are the steps I used to get it working. I hope this helps someone!
Thanks for your tutorial on how to use an alternative controller, using a GameCube controller to play NIVA sounds awesome!
I loved the game, had a ton of fun playing it and I'll definitely be going back to it some point soon to just chill out and explore!
Well that was a nice little romp in the woods. A bit disorienting at times and I'm not sure I saw all of it, but enjoyable nonetheless.
Playing this game was an experience, which I will not forget for a long time. Despite it not giving a simple instruction besides the two actions, you can really immerse yourselve in the beautiful world and listen to the relaxing music. The ending is exceptionally well done, but I will not spoil it here. All in all I can only recommend this FREE! game for you to play and enjoy. Thanks to the developers for this great experience!
Thanks for your kind words! :) We feel really encouraged by your review and we're happy you had a good time playing NIVA!
How do I unzip it?
Beautiful. Pretty taxing after a while but lovely all the same.
when will next update/version come out?
I played this game a while back! Loved being the FOREST GOD! got lost, but still lots of fun!
This game is magic, it's so stunning! It has so much potential and it's amazingly relaxing when you play it!
